Top Tips to Care For Your Hair and Skin
When the weather changes from hot to cold, your skin and hair take a beating. It’s not uncommon for the cold weather and harsh winds to cause dull skin, cracked hands and feet, and dry, itchy scalp. There’s good news though – we’ve listed some great tips that can help you keep your hair and skin protected.
Moisturize Often
As the humidity in the air drops, so does the moisture level of your skin. This essentially means you need to moisturize your skin. If you have combination or dry skin, use a moisturizer that is oil-based. If you have oily skin, you could get away with using a light moisturizer. However, if you notice your skin getting tight, make sure to re-moisturize immediately. Ideally, you want to carry your moisturizer with you when you step out.
Protect Your Hair
Just like how your skin gets affected, your hair becomes dry and frizzy in cold weather as well. So, use a good-quality conditioner to keep your hair protected.
Stay Hydrated and Exercise
In the summer, it can be easier to get yourself into a more active routine and drink plenty of liquids. However, once the seasons start to change, we slowly become more sedentary. This is something you should avoid. Even if you can’t go to a gym or go on walks outside, there are many ways to work out right from the comfort of your home. So, create a peppy workout routine for yourself and stay active.
Don’t Use Extra-Hot Water
It can certainly be tempting to shower in really hot water when it’s cold. But, hot water dries out your hair and skin, especially when the air is dry. So, instead, you may want to shower in lukewarm water.
Gently Exfoliate
It’s important to keep your skin looking fresh, and the best way to do this is by using a gentle exfoliator that can scrub away dead skin and debris. Don’t go overboard though!
If you find that the condition of your hair and skin is still not improving, you may want to consider getting a humidifier. Also, ensure that you don’t step out with your pair of gloves!
